Ringside Casino Illustrations

As an outgrowth from the St. Louis Gambling Kingpins book, JRDI has created a series of posters that depicts an inside look of Uncle Vic and Jim's Ringside Casino.  The original source of these illustrations was from the St. Louis Post Dispatch's artist, George Corney.  In 1944, he went on-site, undercover, to create a series of unauthorized drawings depicting operations inside the casino. To this day, pictures of any sort showing a gaming floor in operation is very limited. In small size the drawings accompanied a feature story showing gambling on the East Side of St Louis and the Doyle's Ringside in particular.  The level of detail is extraordinary for its time, especially considering he drew them from memory with crayon.

JRDI has extracted 5 illustrations from the newspaper; modified and enhanced them to create a rare look at actual gambling operations in 1944. They have been resized to 24" by 36" on quality matte paper and would make a great addition to an art gallery, office lobby, entertainment center, game room or behind a bar. You might even see them at your favorite gambling establishment of today.

The individual illustrations are available on ETSY.com at the RingsideStudio shop. Priced at $90.00 each, including free shipping.
